The rest of the league had time to spare on Gabe Jacas; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 102 spots ahead at No. 171. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Landing Judkins that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 20 they get an every-down engine for the run game. A real need, handled.
DJ Campbell at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Tyleik Williams at slot 54 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Elic Ayomanor at pick 75 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jayden Higgins at the 85th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Deone Walker enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 13. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman in slot 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach the 169th overall pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Quincy Riley in pick 170 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Gabe Jacas at the 171st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Velling in pick No. 186, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Nwankpa at No. 190 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaden Prather this early at Round 6, Pick 34. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
