The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Isaiah Williams fell into slot 233.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jalyx Hunt in slot 174 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
JD Bertrand at the 216th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Isaiah Williams at pick 233 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow M.J. Devonshire was still sitting there in the 244th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
