Green Bay Packers

The Packers let Baker fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Call it larceny. Javon Baker sat on the board until Round 6, Pick 44, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The cost of the Randolph Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
In pick No. 25 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 45
Kris Jenkins at pick 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 57
Chris Braswell in slot 57 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 90
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 93
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in the 91st pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 135
They paid up for Cedric Gray at the 125th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Keith Randolph Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 154
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 4 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 175
Somehow Roger Rosengarten was still sitting there in No. 203, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 209
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jawhar Jordan at the 217th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Javon Baker · WR · rank 180
Javon Baker in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Demani Richardson · S · rank 246
No edge and no loss on Demani Richardson in pick No. 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
