Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Dolphins never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
McCoy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Jonathon Brooks. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Gabriel Murphy went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 26. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Bru McCoy at the 203rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Curtis Jacobs higher than No. 210, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 246, where Dwight McGlothern graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
