The Patriots torched the value chart for Barryn Sorrell, taking him 109 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The Castro steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Walter Nolen in the 38th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Aireontae Ersery in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trey Amos at pick No. 77 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Carson Schwesinger at the 97th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Devin Neal in slot 105, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Sebastian Castro at the 145th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Barryn Sorrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Chase Lundt reach No. 222 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
