You could see the war room lean forward. Josaiah Stewart at pick 220 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Wyatt Milum at Round 2, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Cameron Williams at No. 49 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tre Harris at pick No. 69 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Ashton Jeanty in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Xavier Restrepo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 143rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 217th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Josaiah Stewart in the 220th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in pick 238, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
