The Eagles looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Xavier Thomas at pick No. 172 regardless, 83 picks early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Fashanu value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Olumuyiwa Fashanu in Round 2, Pick 18 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Tyler Nubin was still sitting there in slot 54, and they pounced on premier safety value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in pick 97, where Roman Wilson graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kris Abrams-Draine slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Braelon Allen at pick No. 163 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Xavier Thomas in pick No. 172 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 23 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
