The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 52 spots for Drake Nugent, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Getting Fiske where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Terrion Arnold slipping to pick No. 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Taking Braden Fiske in slot 68 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
MarShawn Lloyd slid further than he should have, and pick 103 is lovely value for the running back. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caedan Wallace. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Joe Milton III in the 180th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Curtis Jacobs in pick No. 193 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Drake Nugent at Round 7, Pick 11 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
