Start where it matters. The Commanders took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Singer that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Liufau pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Troy Fautanu in the 42nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Marist Liufau in pick 66; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dominick Puni in the 100th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Fisher in pick No. 102 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Beaux Limmer in No. 139 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 5 with a little surplus value in Jack Nelson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dorian Singer in slot 223 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
