When a board-topper like Kris Abrams-Draine slides to the 120th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in the 58th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Payton Wilson in the 61st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A quiet steal in slot 73: Zach Frazier for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Calen Bullock at Round 3, Pick 25 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kris Abrams-Draine at No. 120 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 161, where Justin Eboigbe graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at pick 164. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jacob Cowing in the 171st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tykee Smith at the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 201 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Nice patience on Daijun Edwards, who had no business lasting to slot 202. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Erick All went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Garret Greenfield at No. 219 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nathan Thomas in the 245th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
