The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Emmanuel Pregnon, No. 109, roughly 70 picks past where he belonged.
They will need Thomas to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Tylan Wallace gives the group a proven body among the projects. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Kayden McDonald in Round 1, Pick 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for D'Angelo Ponds at the 40th pick when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Elijah Sarratt. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bryce Lance this early at No. 74. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Emmanuel Pregnon all the way to pick 109, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trey Zuhn III at the 146th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jack Endries at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Febechi Nwaiwu at pick No. 169, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid a round early for Josh Cameron in slot 176, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zavion Thomas at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
