The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Raheim Sanders, the No. 147 name on the board, sitting there at slot 232 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Sawyer at pick 25, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Aireontae Ersery at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mello Dotson in the 126th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Majors in pick No. 147 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Wease Jr.. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Raheim Sanders at No. 232 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in slot 239 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Taking Brant Kuithe in the 246th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
