Thirty-one other rooms let Dasan McCullough slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at pick No. 217. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 28 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tre Harris at the 57th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Keon Sabb at the 86th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Jabbar Muhammad at No. 89 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Fernando Carmona slid further than he should have, and slot 92 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Danny Stutsman at Round 4, Pick 28 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jamon Dumas-Johnson in pick 152. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A slide stopped in slot 153, with Jaishawn Barham worth more than the price. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Quinn Carroll is a better player than No. 185 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Garrett Dellinger at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Deion Burks in pick No. 202 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Logan Parr in the 213th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dasan McCullough in Round 7, Pick 25 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tony Grimes at pick 220 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
