The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Landing Washington that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
The Solomon reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Brian Thomas Jr. is a better player than No. 36 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in pick No. 40, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cade Stover in Round 3, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Mike Sainristil in pick 78, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A curious use of the Round 3 slot. Edge rusher, running back and other spots needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in slot 139. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had Trevor Keegan higher than the 152nd overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Ro Torrence at par in No. 180, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Tahj Washington at slot 222 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
