Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
The Walker pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and quarterback still on the board. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th pick they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Adisa Isaac at pick No. 63 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Devontez Walker in Round 3, Pick 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 35: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while interior defensive lineman and quarterback keeps waiting.
Cole Bishop in pick No. 132 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; James Williams at No. 160 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chau Smith-Wade in pick 176. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cody Schrader in slot 178 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Roger Rosengarten slid further than he should have, and the 193rd pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the 196th overall pick, with Nathan Thomas worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Javon Baker at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson still on the board at pick 214. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Jared Wiley all the way to the 232nd pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaiah Neyor at No. 240 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
