Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Javon Bullard, the No. 66 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 107th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. If Jones pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kamari Lassiter slipping to the 39th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Amarius Mims at Round 2, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Bralen Trice at the 47th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: J.J. McCarthy still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Javon Bullard was still sitting there in slot 107, and they pounced on premier safety value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Beaux Limmer at pick No. 143 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cam Hart at pick 145 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Christian Jones at pick No. 185 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
