The tape said wait; the Giants did not. Miles Frazier went at slot 184, a good 28 picks before the board was ready. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That Robinson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Chop Robinson in No. 38, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Quinn Ewers at slot 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cooper DeJean slid further than he should have, and pick No. 70 is lovely value for the cornerback. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Tyler Davis in the 106th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Tommy Eichenberg at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Cole Bishop in the 143rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Miles Frazier at pick No. 184, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
