The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Michael Penix Jr., and the whole operation now runs on his development. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The cost of the Fautanu reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Cooper DeJean in Round 2, Pick 22 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Princely Umanmielen went about where he belonged in pick No. 69. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Tyleik Williams in slot 105; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Troy Fautanu in No. 106, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They liked Tyler Guyton enough to skip the value, taking him in the 135th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Donovan Edwards in the 142nd overall pick, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Gray. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
