The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mims.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Amarius Mims at No. 39 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in slot 43, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 15 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had T'Vondre Sweat higher than pick 70, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Max Melton in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Daijun Edwards at the 143rd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Christian Jones in pick No. 185 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
