Thirty-one other rooms let Jaylan Ford slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at the 183rd overall pick. Highway robbery.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They did well to land JT Tuimoloau in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.J. McCarthy at slot 47 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in pick 69, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nice patience on Tyleik Williams, who had no business lasting to the 105th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jason Marshall Jr. at No. 142, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jaylan Ford in pick No. 183, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
