The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Nix at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The cost of the Allen reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Rome Odunze went about where he belonged in the 8th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chop Robinson in the 39th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Bo Nix at pick No. 43 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kamren Kinchens at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at pick 70, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Max Melton at par in Round 4, Pick 8, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A conviction pick on Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sataoa Laumea in the 142nd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Jaylan Ford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
