The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The cost of the Tupuola-Fetui reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Giants indulged a want in Moore while a need in safety, cornerback and other spots stayed open. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Moore.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Troy Franklin went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 5. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Amarius Mims in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Princely Umanmielen at pick No. 69 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A want over a need in No. 94: Rod Moore adds a defensive back while safety, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Davis in slot 105, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 142nd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; Bryce Foster in the 163rd pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Ainias Smith, who had no business lasting to the 183rd pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
LaDarius Henderson in pick 252 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
