The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Max Melton, the Round 5 slot, roughly 67 picks past where he belonged.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Jacobs pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Kamari Lassiter in Round 2, Pick 11, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at the 47th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Cade Stover went about where he belonged in the 70th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
A conviction pick on Spencer Rattler at pick 107 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Christian Jones, who had no business lasting to No. 141. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Max Melton in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Curtis Jacobs at pick No. 183 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
