The Giants put a flag in the ground for Braelon Allen, 44 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Lassiter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Morgan in slot 39. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 43 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Chris Braswell in Round 2, Pick 15; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 70th pick, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Leonard Taylor III in slot 108 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Braelon Allen in pick 113 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land James Williams in Round 5, Pick 4, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Jaylan Ford in the 185th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
