The Jordan Travis pick is the one that will follow the Giants into the fall. They took him 28 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They banked enough surplus on Verse to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jared Verse at pick 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 10: Kamren Kinchens for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 47 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Caelen Carson at No. 108 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jordan Travis in No. 109 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Braelon Allen at pick No. 140 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Jaylan Ford at par in Round 6, Pick 10, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
