After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Robinson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
If Ratledge pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
They barely believed it either: Chop Robinson still on the board at the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and slot 39 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in pick 47, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamren Kinchens at the 69th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tate Ratledge a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jalen McMillan in No. 142 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Jack Nelson was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 8. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
