The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The Gore Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Rome Odunze at par in pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Chop Robinson in Round 2, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Guyton at No. 47 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Javon Bullard in the 70th pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tommy Eichenberg in slot 107 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No drama and no debate, Donovan Jackson went about where he belonged in pick No. 109. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cam Hart at No. 143 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Frank Gore Jr. at pick 185 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
