After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Gore Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Stackhouse at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
They took Troy Franklin at par in the 37th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Troy Fautanu at the 39th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Kalen King went about where he belonged in slot 47. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in Round 3, Pick 5, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Fair-plus on Ja'Lynn Polk, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Adisa Isaac at pick No. 105 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nazir Stackhouse at No. 109 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Blake Fisher at Round 4, Pick 10 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jason Marshall Jr. in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Layden Robinson in pick No. 183; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jo'Quavious Marks in slot 188 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Miles Frazier in No. 228 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 230th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
