The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, King at that price is a win they earned. The Coleman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The Zaven Collins deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In the end it comes back to Rome Odunze, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Steal is underselling it; Bralen Trice at the 36th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had Taliese Fuaga higher than Round 2, Pick 5, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
J.J. McCarthy at pick 47 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Kalen King all the way to No. 68, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Byron Murphy II in the 69th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at No. 105, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach on Devin Neal in Round 5, Pick 6; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brandon Coleman at the 183rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
