The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Landing Fautanu that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Adding Devin White by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. They are betting Ford proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in the 37th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan Morgan in No. 42 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. slipping to pick 54 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Value with a capital V on Denzel Burke in slot 69, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Princely Umanmielen in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Troy Fautanu here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in the 183rd pick, with Ainias Smith worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 13, more than the board wanted. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
