The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named safety, a need the Giants walked right past. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The Beebe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at slot 39 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 43 with a little surplus value in Chop Robinson. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Guyton at the 47th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at pick 70 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Leonard Taylor III in Round 4, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Max Melton at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
