They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They are betting Williams proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Wiggins at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.10 · Pick 10 · Michael Penix Jr. · QB · rank 9
By-the-book stuff, Michael Penix Jr. at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 29
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Worthy at the 37th overall pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 46
Jordan Morgan in No. 39 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 44
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 42nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 35
Nate Wiggins at pick 54 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 73
Chris Braswell at pick No. 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 111
No drama and no debate, Tyleik Williams went about where he belonged in slot 105. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · James Williams · S · rank 123
A conviction pick on James Williams at Round 4, Pick 8 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
