Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Kinchens. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kamren Kinchens in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in pick 48, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Melton in pick No. 107 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Braelon Allen in the 143rd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
