Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
They banked enough surplus on Trotter Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Raym reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Kaden Elliss deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the 40th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kamren Kinchens in pick 54 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Chris Braswell went about where he belonged in No. 69. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 3, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Fabien Lovett at the 183rd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Andrew Raym this early at the 219th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
