Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Wyatt Milum got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at No. 221.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 39, where Emeka Egbuka graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mykel Williams in the 70th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jahdae Barron in Round 3, Pick 16 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Tory Horton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Wyatt Milum in pick 221 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Dylan Fairchild all the way to the 223rd pick, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 235 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
