The rest of the league will want that one back. Harold Perkins Jr. tumbling to the Patriots in No. 221 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Reaching for Batty left real value on the table behind him. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Jalen Royals in the Round 2 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyleik Williams at Round 3, Pick 6. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ozzy Trapilo. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 141 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the 221st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Tyler Batty at No. 223 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Bryce Foster at slot 235 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
