The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tre Harris, the No. 18 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 21. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value.
Wyatt Milum in No. 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Isaiah Bond was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 6, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen Royals at pick No. 80. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Walter Nolen at the 106th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 141st pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Dylan Fairchild here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Kyle Kennard still on the board at pick 223. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
