New England Patriots

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Harris: B.

The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tre Harris, the No. 18 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 21. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 1
In slot 3 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 13
Wyatt Milum in No. 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 24
Somehow Isaiah Bond was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 6, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Jalen Royals · WR · rank 69
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen Royals at pick No. 80. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 12
Walter Nolen at the 106th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.3 · Pick 141 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 58
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 141st pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.7 · Pick 221 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 59
They robbed the room for Dylan Fairchild here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.9 · Pick 223 · Kyle Kennard · DE-EDGE · rank 79
They barely believed it either: Kyle Kennard still on the board at pick 223. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.21 · Pick 235 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 18
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
