New England Patriots

Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Majors: B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Jake Majors slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the 223rd overall pick. Highway robbery.

Wedig has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 6
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 20
They will replay Luther Burden III at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 18
Circle this one: Malaki Starks at slot 43 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Jack Nelson · OT · rank 120
They reached a country mile for Jack Nelson at pick 70, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 25
Jalon Walker in No. 80 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Maxwell Hairston · CB · rank 100
A clean, defensible pick in the 106th pick with a little surplus value in Maxwell Hairston. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.3 · Pick 141 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 89
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at the 141st overall pick. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.7 · Pick 221 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 212
Miles Frazier slipping to pick No. 221 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.9 · Pick 223 · Jake Majors · C · rank 95
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach the 223rd overall pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
R7.21 · Pick 235 · Trey Wedig · OT · rank 304
Trey Wedig at No. 235 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
