The rest of the league had time to spare on Jared Wiley; the Chiefs did not wait, grabbing him 33 spots ahead at the 173rd overall pick.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The Jackson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Elliss.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 3: Brian Thomas Jr. for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Morgan in No. 52 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Kamren Kinchens went about where he belonged in slot 64. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
