Some picks age like wine; Logan Lee at slot 172 will need to, sitting 38 spots clear of his grade.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback went begging.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keon Coleman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on T.J. Tampa at the 50th pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reach on Patrick Paul in the 57th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 1. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Austin Booker is a better player than No. 88 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
