The Chiefs treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 252nd overall pick on Khalid Duke a full 39 spots early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With tight end and quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
