Los Angeles Chargers

Best value of the weekend goes to the Chargers for Muhammad III: B.

Call it larceny. Moose Muhammad III sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Chargers did not need to be asked twice.

The cost of the Limmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 30
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 37
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nate Wiggins. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 49
Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 60
They took Cooper DeJean at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 70
No drama and no debate, Blake Corum went about where he belonged in slot 70. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 121
A reach for Junior Colson in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 140
Beaux Limmer at the 109th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 128
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to pick 143. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 201
Darius Robinson at Round 6, Pick 9 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Moose Muhammad III · WR · rank 188
Moose Muhammad III at pick 227 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.29 · Pick 249 · Reuben Fatheree II · OT · rank 236
Reuben Fatheree II at slot 249 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
