Call it larceny. Moose Muhammad III sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Chargers did not need to be asked twice.
The cost of the Limmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nate Wiggins. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Cooper DeJean at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Blake Corum went about where he belonged in slot 70. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach for Junior Colson in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Beaux Limmer at the 109th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to pick 143. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Darius Robinson at Round 6, Pick 9 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Moose Muhammad III at pick 227 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Reuben Fatheree II at slot 249 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
