You build a draft on nights like this. Kalen King had no business being available in the Round 6 slot, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The Drew Dalman pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In the end it comes back to Malik Nabers, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 2. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malachi Corley. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ricky Pearsall in the 68th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kiran Amegadjie in pick No. 85 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on Trey Benson in pick 104, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ben Sinnott in No. 136 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dylan Laube at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
