Thirty-one other rooms let Kyle McCord slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at slot 170. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 17 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Somehow Tyler Warren was still sitting there in the 44th pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Malaki Starks at the 49th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Deone Walker at No. 76 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Savion Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Anthony Belton still on the board at slot 150. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kyle McCord at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Kobe King all the way to pick 172, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 174th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
