Call it larceny. Frank Gore Jr. sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Suamataia lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A conviction pick on Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Austin Booker slid further than he should have, and slot 95 is lovely value for the edge rusher. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Josh Newton in No. 132. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Mason McCormick at Round 6, Pick 10 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Tahj Washington was still sitting there in the 212th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick No. 252 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
