The rest of the league will want that one back. Andrew Mukuba tumbling to the Cowboys in Round 5, Pick 33 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Collins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher. Need was not the driver here.
A want over a need in the 42nd overall pick: Landon Jackson adds an edge rusher while wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Alfred Collins at slot 73 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in No. 149, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Deone Walker at the 151st pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 169 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at Round 5, Pick 32 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Andrew Mukuba in pick 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They jumped the gun on Gunnar Helm, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Cody Simon in No. 179 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Hunter Wohler at pick 186 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They reached a country mile for Davison Igbinosun at the 187th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Raheim Sanders at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jonah Coleman at the 236th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
