The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Adonai Mitchell, the No. 76 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 5 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Xavier Worthy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Johnny Wilson at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Troy Franklin in pick No. 64 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Malachi Corley in Round 3, Pick 27 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Adonai Mitchell at the 137th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jalen McMillan in slot 147 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Antwane Wells Jr. at pick 172 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dominic Lovett in No. 253 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
