Miami Dolphins

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Dolphins: B.

Some picks age like wine; Gentry Williams at the 225th overall pick will need to, sitting 75 spots clear of his grade.

They banked enough surplus on Kiser to cover a lot of smaller sins. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 23
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 59
A straight-up fair deal on Dylan Fairchild at Round 2, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 75
The board had Andrew Mukuba higher than the 89th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 79
They will replay Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 98 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Mason Taylor · TE · rank 104
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason Taylor. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 91
Taking Danny Stutsman in No. 116 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.12 · Pick 150 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 107
Somehow Nicholas Singleton was still sitting there in pick 150, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
R5.20 · Pick 158 · Jordan Burch · DE · rank 117
Jordan Burch in Round 5, Pick 20 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Will Howard · QB · rank 258
Will Howard in the 190th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.11 · Pick 225 · Gentry Williams · CB · rank 300
They talked themselves into Gentry Williams at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.19 · Pick 233 · DJ Campbell · OG · rank 217
A quiet steal in the 233rd pick: DJ Campbell for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.27 · Pick 241 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 200
They robbed the room for Xavier Nwankpa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.37 · Pick 251 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 202
Jack Kiser in slot 251 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
