You could see the war room lean forward. Cade Klubnik at the 218th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Henderson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Tetairoa McMillan in slot 3, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the 41st overall pick: Tyleik Williams for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Colston Loveland at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rod Moore. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Quinshon Judkins all the way to Round 4, Pick 7, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 144 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Steal is underselling it; Cade Klubnik at the 218th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jason Henderson at pick No. 220 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Deion Burks slipping to pick No. 236 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, PJ Williams in No. 256, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
