Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Patriots will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Greenfield value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The cost of the Holker reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Marvin Harrison Jr. went about where he belonged in slot 3. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kool-Aid McKinstry in No. 34 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Bralen Trice slid further than he should have, and pick No. 68 is lovely value for the edge rusher. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dominick Puni slipping to the 103rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Dallin Holker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Jordan Travis in pick 180, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joe Milton III. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Garret Greenfield, who had no business lasting to the 231st overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
